I am so glad you are here. It tells me that you know you have important work to do, and that you want to make an informed choice about the psychologist that is right for you.

In my office, you will feel welcomed and understood in an environment that is warm, comforting, safe and inviting. Although you likely will be challenged in our sessions, you will never feel judged. Our work together will help you feel more sure of yourself, and especially, more hopeful for positive change.

I work especially well with people who struggle with low self-esteem, depression, shame, guilt or fear. I am comfortable discussing scary and difficult issues, which some therapists choose to discount or ignore. In addition, I have been trained extensively in multicultural issues, and strive to have a very diverse group of clients.

The issue you may be dealing with could be recent or life-long. In either case, the choice is yours on how long we work together, and I invite you to discuss that with me.

I do this work because I love it. It would be an honor to work with you.

Kind regards,
David

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with more than two decades of experience working with adult individuals, couples and members of special communities, such as LGBT and racial or ethnic minorities.

Experience
With more than 10 years working in Chicago and its suburbs in a variety of settings, I have experienced a wide array of individuals and groups. I find this background helpful in dealing with individual differences in each of my clients.

Some of the clients I have worked with are part of these special groups:

  • Chronically ill
  • Elderly
  • Ethnic minorities
  • LGBT
  • Low-income
  • Racial minorities
  • Women
  • Trauma victims

I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Psychology.  I also have a Master of Science from Roosevelt University in Chicago.  Both of these Institutions specialize in diverse populations and needs of communities. Further, I am credentialed in Illinois as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.  I find it is especially powerful to have training in both fields, as they work well towards healing, especially when applied together.

No matter who you are, or where you come from or how you identify, my goal is simple. I want you to feel understood—never judged—and hopeful for positive change.

I have worked extensively with LGBT people as well as those with HIV or a chronic illness. Often, these people have been subjected to much shaming, stigma and trauma that we work to understand and overcome. You can be assured that I am comfortable discussing scary and difficult issues, which some therapists choose to discount or ignore.

If you suffer from depression, bipolar illness, anxiety disorders, compulsive behaviors and substance use disorders and have already sought help through support groups, such as AA, that is certainly a positive step. We can build on those existing foundations, and I welcome your bringing that knowledge and experience to our sessions.

Many of my clients are women, and I enjoy helping them with their struggles, be it anxiety, exposure to trauma, or simply the stress of everyday living.

I have extensive experience in helping people who deal with:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Bipolar illness
  • Chronic illness
  • Co-dependency
  • Compulsive behaviors
  • Depression
  • HIV
  • Substance abuse disorders

Additionally, I have vast experience working in diverse neighborhoods and communities, including hospitals, clinics, community mental health centers, day treatment centers, dual diagnosis clinics and medical clinics. All of these settings have contributed to my vision for how my office and practice is set up.

Credentials and Education
My education and training at both the Chicago School of Psychology and Roosevelt University was extremely valuable to my work as each institution specializes in diverse populations and needs of communities. I also am grateful for my training as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor..

I find it especially powerful to draw on both psychology and Substance Abuse counseling techniques with my clients, and have seen first-hand how well they work together toward healing.
