Q: What is your therapy grounded in?
A: Good question. My therapy is grounded in psychodynamic theory. I approach therapy by working closely with you to bring awareness to conflicted aspects of self. We process the tension and integrate this information together, which leads to healing. Perhaps in simpler terms, I consider this making peace with all aspects of oneself, resulting in a happier and more authentic, self-aware you.
Q: Can I request adjustments if I don’t like or want psychodynamic theory type of therapy?
A: Although psychodynamic theory is my general framework, I am working with you. You may wish to participate in shorter, more concentrated work. We'll discuss what works best for you and we'll decide together how to proceed. I am trained in many models of therapy and I am able to integrate many of them into our work.
Q: What insurance do you take? What if I don’t have a type of insurance you take or don't have insurance?
A: Presently, I am taking Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Cigna, Medicare. I will likely add additional insurance providers in the near future. For clients who do not have insurance or do not wish to use insurance, I accept self-paying clients. My fees range between $100 to $150 per session. However, I will occasionally work with clients on a sliding fee scale. I'm happy to talk with you about options.
Q: What are your hours and where is your office?
A: Presently, I am available all day Wednesday and Friday, from 9AM until 6PM. I can make exceptions to my schedule in unusual situations. I will be adding hours and days later. My office is located at 3045 N. First Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85714. I'm in the Palo Santo building; amongst a great group of therapists and healers.
Q: What if I've read about a "new treatment" for a specific disorder and I want to try it?
A: Therapies and interventions are constantly being written about. Chances are, if it is new and being talked about, I have heard of it. Many “new treatments” are repackaged treatments that have been around a long time. Let's talk about it. If I do not practice a specific treatment, I will let you know. I will also provide referrals, if I can.
Q: How often per week do you typical see a client?
A: I like to see clients a minimum of once per week to start – particularly as we get to know one another. I will make exceptions, but I like to ask clients to as consistent as possible and to commit to sessions for at least one to two months in order to give the time we spend together in therapy a chance to work.
